I can’t run so should I start running for survival?

Absolutely!  You don’t need to be able to run a half marathon or a marathon.  You just need to be able to run to escape.  Running has other benefits.  One of the key things to prepare for survival is being healthy.  Over 40% of the US population is obese.  And I am not talking about BMI slightly over 24 (I am not a fan of BMI) but significantly over.  And many of those obese people are on prescription drugs.

How often should I sharpen my knife?

If you use it often, once a week.  If not, look at its cutting capability, and if it is not up to par, sharpen it.  Make sure you take your time to sharpen your knives in order to avoid damaging the edge.  Don’t forget to lube your knife as well.  Once a year, I take the knife apart to lube it.  Last but not least, treat the blade with oil (knife oil, camellia oil, kurobara, and the like).
