It’s amazing how many people I know go on hikes and only have water, wallet, cell phone, car keys, and maybe a snack.  I usually carry a full pack of items, enough to survive for a few days while I am signaling or attempt to make contact to be exfiltrated out if I am injured.  I don’t get lost, but even if that happens, what I have in my pack will get me back out.

I carry a minimum of 50 feet for a hike, but I usually have a pouch with 100 feet of my favorite paracord (AFFILIATE LINK) from TOUGH-GRID with me that I can grab before packing for a hike.  I also have a hiking pack usually packed and ready to go.  It’s light and can keep me alive for at least 3 days unless there is no water nearby.
