Arctic Polar Vortex disruption and what it means
What is the arctic polar vortex? It is a band of strong westerly winds that form in the stratosphere about 10 to 30 miles above the North Pole every year.

Another year has come and gone, and we are now facing 2024. I am hoping for a great year, but we start off the year with a bang.
I recently ordered the Baofeng UV-17 Pro GPS without any expectations. It cost me under $50 with international shipping. It is a multi-band radio but supposed to work on 2m and 70cm (as well as 1.25m) bands. It has air band and GPS. My quick summary is that this is the best Baofeng I ever purchased.
Indoor rock climbing can be a lot of fun. You can climb boulders, top rope, and lead in indoor gyms. What are the benefits?
As a survivalist, if you don’t have endurance or the ability to run, your chances of survival are reduced significantly. Running seems to be an activity that most people avoid. As a matter of fact, less than a tenth of the global population run, and the U.S. happens to have the most runners at about 15% of which more than half are women. Some countries have less than 1% of the population that run.
9mm Luger (9x19mm Parabellum). Most times I have encountered a handgun, it is a 9mm pistol. This caliber is very popular among all the gun manufacturers. I can hear some of the gun aficionados saying that there are better calibers out there, but go to any gun range, most guns on the stations are 9mm pistols.
If possible, yes. If I am camping and procuring questionable water for drinking, the first thing I do is boil the water to a rolling boil for at least 2 minutes. Let the water cool, then begin taking a sip with a personal water filter
This is my go-to water filter for adventuring and have them for my various survival packs. I carry at least one per pack. This is the easiest way to drink questionable water. I still boil water before I filter through the straw. I will be reviewing the newer LifeWater Peak series soon.
Biolite camp stoves are some of my favorite stoves for adventuring and survival. It costs a bit of money, but I save that money in fuel. It’s also a tad large but I can grill, boil water, and charge my devices. I use it often, except for maybe when I have to carry a lot of climbing gear for alpine adventure, then I carry a very tiny camping stove with a fuel canister full of white gas.
Lean-To is a great way to quickly make a shelter, but the environment must be just right. There should be plenty of trees around, with available downed branches, or the level of effort to make one is too high that other options are better. In a nutshell, a lean-to is you lean several long branches against a support and cover with either tarp or leaves and/or smaller branches.
