The most interesting configuration whether you are doing SOTA (Summit On The Air) or POTA (Parks On The Air), or setting up a base camp communication station, is using a Solar Powered Battery Bank with your ham radio gear.
Solar power for the home is a good option to have if you have the right system and the power goes out. Without the proper setup, all that a solar power system does for your home is reduce your electricity bill, which isn’t going to help if there is no power coming from the utility service provider.
