Do I need to know how to skydive for survival?

I got asked this question recently, and I’ll share my answer with you. No. The likelihood of requiring a jump out of a plane or helicopter is extremely low. On commercial flights, there are no parachutes. On most helicopter flights, there are no parachutes. So the need to jump out of a flying machine is not something you really need to know in order to survive, though it can come I handy if you have packed your own parachute and there is a situation on a small plane that is flying high enough for the jump.

If it is on your bucket list, you should at least do one tandem jump and sky dive. But it is not a skill that needs to be mastered for survival, unless you are often on a plane and there is potential danger in the sky.
