What do you do during the earthquake?

Based on your plan, you should have a location in your home that is a safe place to be during the earthquake. If you are not at home, find the most optimal location. Find a large sturdy table, a sturdy doorway (most doorways in newer homes are not sturdy to withstand an earthquake), and stay away from windows or anything above head that can come crashing down.  If you can’t find a safe location, crouch down into a ball, cover your eyes and face by facing down, and place your hands over your head away from any windows. Stay put until the movement stops and wait 5 minutes for any aftershocks.  If there are no aftershocks, you can take post-earthquake actions.
