What is the best type of knife for survival?

There is a full tang knife, a folding knife, and a multitool knife in general.  But if I can only carry one, I would carry a full tang knife.  I usually carry all three, and I also carry a machete or a kukri, and a saw.  The benefit of a full tang knife is the blade and the handle is one piece of metal, and there are varying materials used to make the handle.  The last thing I need is a knife failure where the handle and the blade is separated.  The knife is practically useless at that point.  Always have a solid full tang knife in your kit.
