Will satellite phones work when the power is out?

Short answer is, YES. But you need to make sure that your sat phone is charged, and you have a means of charging it. There is the dilemma of other sat phone users. Does everyone in your household have a sat phone? It’s quite expensive to buy the equipment and pay for the service (reminds me of my cell phone and service back in 1983.) And there is no family plan. It is a good alternative when there is no power and you need to get a hold of your family.

Satellite phones are great when you are adventuring in remote areas, and you need to call someone. Just make sure to pack a solar panel and battery bank if you are on a remote expedition for an extended period of time.
